My twin-turbolishous Blue-Pearl on Black 3000gt-vr4 is one badass car.
Because of my current financial situation, the car is eagerly awaiting
upcoming "go-fast" mods, but only receiving the best
"no-cost" mods other than the 120k (20k early) mod, and the
rebuilt transmission mod :) . I am also working on building my own
microchip-powered, accurate digital boost gauge. It is coming along
well, except a little slower than I would have liked. I am still working
on it, and I hope people will still be interested in it when I am done.
Currently, my car is almost stock. New brake rotors / pads (brake fad from
120mph was a little scary) so now that I have my stopping power, I plan
to increase my going power with a downpipe / precat elim, and possibly a
test pipe (IA has no emissions tests) and then on to the fuel system
upgrades so I can start to up the boost. After that, of course bigger
turbos, and then maybe I will stop there... But probably not.
This page serves as a personal page for information that I need quick access to, or things that I want to show my friends. So don't expect too much. |

I will always find something to do when it comes to my car. But,
for Spring of 2006 I plan on just keeping the car in good shape. It is
running well so I don't plan on doing any major upgrades, I will just enjoy
it like it is. But as the Spring turns into Summer I may change my mind
and install the SAFC-2 that I have had sitting on my dresser ;)
If anyone in the Iowa City / Coralville / North Liberty area ever feels like getting
greasy in a cramped garage, give me a call and I will have something that we
can work on. Read more... |

Jan 6th, 2008This crazy warm snap (49 degrees F today) has actually given me the motivation to go out and work on the car (just a little). I spent about an hour out in the garage today on the 3000gt (and finally changed the oil on the Eclipse). I decided to replace my FPR with the new OEM FPR that I bought a few months ago, but hadn't yet installed. It was a surprisingly easy job, and it went off without a single hitch. In 15 minutes I had Fuel Pressure relieved and the intake and old FPR removed. 15 more minutes and I had everything back together and I was cranking the car. No leaks, and the Fule pressure is now (Correctly) at ~36psi at idle (as opposed to ~41psi with the old regulator). I hope that this will correct my rich idle condition that I had in the past, and potentially might even help the lean top end that I would get sometimes. Unfortunately, it will be hard to test that until the roads clear up... Remaining plans for the car this winter will be the completion of my SAFC2 install, gutting of my front pre-cat, and potential redesign of my boost gauge. Hopefully it will stay this warm for awhile. Especially because come March 22nd, I start my Ironman training. At that point, I will be lucky if I get to do anything other than eat or sleep outside of work :( Mar 20th, 2007
Got new tie rod ends in last night in about an hour and a half. Very easy job, I got lucky that they weren't badly stuck in place. I also got lucky that they never spontaneously fell apart on me. They were AWFUL. So much slop, it was hard to believe! Driving last night and today was a world of difference. The alignment isn't too bad now, but I think I will get it done anyway. It will have to wait until after I get back from Cancun next week though (and I finally get back to work on the Sentra). Mar 12th, 2007Well obviously I have not been keeping this website up to date, but then again, it is not like much work gets done on cars over the winter unless you have a heated garage, which I don't. A few quick updates:
I'm sure there is more to update, but that is all that comes to mind right now. I think that I will start making updates more often now that it is getting to be nice weather out and I have motivation to go out to the garage and work! Aug 30th, 2006Late night! I haven't been able to get to sleep lately so I don't mind, but I was still amazed at how easy it is to burn 4 hours just goofing around on car stuff. It keeps me busy though, so I love it ;) Once again, since I cannot drive my car I decided to work on a few things that I had intended to do for awhile. My friend Brian Mokrzycki came over and we installed my "fixed" imitation Greddy Type S BOV, and removed the annoying as hell hard line to the clutch vacuum resevoir. I barely had a long enough 10mm line, but I think it will work. I got one of those packs with different size lines in it so now I have a ton left over. I'm sure I will find a use for it though. After we did that short job, I started to brainstorm for a location for the permanent mounting of my Palm m505 that I use for datalogging. I think I came up with an awesome location and I have already begun the necessary modifications. So I was up all night carefully cutting foam and cloth. I won't show anything until it is completed, but the last sentence should have given you a hint about where it is going. It'll be sweet :) Aug 29th, 2006Today since I cannot drive my car I decided to start working on it. I needed to replace the two front speakers because they are blown, so I ordered some Kenwood KFC-1360s. For $50 I didn't expect much, but I still figured they would be at least as good as the stock speakers. I think I may have been wrong though. They are the same if not slightly worse than the stock speakers :( But they do sound a hundred times better than my current speakers, because they are not missing 3/4 of the foam ring surrounding the cone (I know nothing about stereo equipment obviously ;) ). I have only replaced one of the speakers so far so that I could compare the two, and because it is a pain in the ass to remove the entire door trim. But I will do the next one in a few days I'm sure. |
